6 Beauty/Wellness Trends for 2019

6 Beauty/Wellness Trends for 2019 - Three Ships

2018 has been a heck of a year - Mercury retrograde hit us hard, so many celebrity engagements/fallouts made us ponder “true love”, and new trends were established, including clean beauty, beauty box subscriptions, meditation studios, turmeric skin care, social media detoxing, mindful experience, ketogenic diet, etc… so what’s next for 2019? Read on to find out!

#1 Eco-Keto Diet & MCT Oil Making a Comeback

The ketogenic diet was taking over the health and wellness world this year - and MCT oil, which was once a huge trend ten years ago, is also coming back! Although the keto diet is known to be effective, its heavily meat-oriented diet is contributing to a plethora of environmental issues. So in 2019, the keto diet without animal products is predicted to go viral.

#2 Plant-Based Skincare (including CBD!)

Retinoids alternatives will be popping up in 2019 - watch out for Bakuchiol - a plant-based ingredient taking over skin care industry! Derived from the babchi plant, it works perfectly for all skin types (dry, sensitive and oily skin!), functioning as an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant.

As a Toronto-based business, we vividly remember the moment weed became legal in Ontario. Speaking of weed, hemp oil is slowly taking over the world as well. It has all the benefits people need, such as relieving pain and stress as well as improving sleep and digestion. From all the benefits, CBD is used across different industries and many companies are now inventing new products.

 #3 Less is Better

Does anyone get stressed about following your everyday routine that’s supposed to help you stay balanced?

The Korean 10-step skincare routine was previously buzzy, but next year there's a new routine in town - "skip-care". According to Byrdie, skip-care is “a skincare method that allows you to identify the essential ingredients for your skin and avoid the use of unnecessary products for a simpler, yet proper, skincare routine”. The age of “less is better” has finally arrived.

We will also be embracing “wabi-sabi” more, a Japanese home design philosophy, where they find beauty in imperfection. A more laid back, simple and comforting beauty approach seems to be in trend next year.

#4 Plant-Based Fish

Everyone was going crazy when plant-based meat started tasting like real meat - now 2019 will be all about plant-based fish! Overfishing has been a huge problem for the longest time, yet no big actions were taken in health and wellness industry. Starting this year, more companies are coming up with products that alternate seafood. Cheers to a more sustainable future! 🥂

#5 Fitness - Treadmills

According to ClassPass, treadmill based workout classes are going to be one of the fast-growing fitness trend in 2019. Shorter work out classes like HIIT (high-intensity interval training) are going to increase, as well as online workout classes like Obé.

#6 Got Oat Milk?

Oat milk is replacing milk in your coffee… Oat milk’s becoming more popular than almond, and apparently it tastes less nutty, still creamy and steams better than dairy milk. Keep an eye out for this new vegan milk alternative. 👀🥛🌱
