A Message from our Founders
When we started Three Ships in 2017, we were frustrated with the state of the beauty industry. Overpriced products, green-washing and millions of tons of plastic waste. We knew there had to be a better way, so we set out on a mission to provide the most effective, transparent and affordable natural skincare.
The skincare industry is in need of an overhaul and we believe that better skincare means being better in every way - from protecting and restoring the planet to supporting the community. We're determined to use our business as a force for good and believe that our sustainability work today is just the start.
We hope you'll join us in demanding better from the skincare industry.

Our Impact
Embracing the Circular Economy
We carefully analyze the life cycle of our product to reduce waste and favour renewable resources. By integrating upcycled ingredients into our formulation we source parts of produce that would often contribute to food waste and re-purpose ingredients.
Responsible Sourcing
Responsible sourcing encompasses clean ingredients and sustainable harvesting practices. We do our due diligence and set high standards for ensuring worker safety and sustainable environmental practices with our Supplier Code of Conduct.
Supporting the Community
We’re a better skincare brand and strive to use our business as a force for good. We partner with organizations that share our values and are committed to building an inclusive and sustainable economy.

Sustainability
Action Plan
Embracing the Circular Economy
We believe that businesses have a role in reducing waste and protecting the planet. Our team embraces circularity principles and has audited all existing products to identify ways to eliminate unnecessary packaging. We've opted to minimize waste by using glass bottles, a material that can be recycled endlessly, for all our serums, cleansers, and masks. A small portion of our products use plastic components, such as our pumps and droppers, which are not recyclable as yet. However, we are working closely with our suppliers for a solution. We are committed to minimizing plastic usage and shifting to 100% of plastic packaging designed to be reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2025, in line with the Canada Plastics Pact commitments.
Responsible Sourcing
We believe that sourcing transparency provides you with the opportunity to look closer to better understand what’s going on your skin. We also know that natural isn't always better for the environment or community. Natural ingredients need to be sourced in a responsible manner for people and the planet. That's why we've implemented a rigorous supplier auditing process, where all suppliers adhere to a code of conduct, including environmental protection and upholding worker rights in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Labour Organization’s Conventions.
Combating Climate Change
Every business has a carbon footprint, but we believe that every business should be working to reduce carbon emissions and offset previous emissions. We also believe that climate protection happens throughout the value chain, from sourcing sustainably to protecting natural habitats to manufacturing using clean energy. We are committed to becoming a climate-neutral business.
Supporting the Community
Compassion guides all aspects of our business, and it is our goal to support charities, environmental initiatives and promote diversity within our brand. Our partnership with Make-A-Wish Canada means we have the privilege of granting wishes for children with critical illnesses and help keep their spirits high during this difficult time. At checkout, customers can add a donation to their order. 100% of these proceeds go directly to Make-A-Wish. We will also be launching limited-time products where 100% of the proceeds go towards Make-A-Wish.

Why is the Circular Economy Cycle important for Three Ships?
We recognize the environmental impacts of the beauty industry and as we continue to grow, it is our goal to minimize waste and increase sustainability in all aspects of our supply chain. This model is regenerative by intention; we use ingredients and design products that can be renewed and recycled at the end of it’s cycle.

Clean Ingredients
The term natural isn't currently regulated in the skincare industry in Canada. We believe that natural ingredients shouldn't come with "air quotes", asterisks, or lofty claims. We prioritize using ingredients that are have third-party certifications, such as COSMOS ECOCERT, a leading standard for organic and natural products. All suppliers adhere to our code of conduct and we also use fair trade almond ingredients as well as RSPO-certified palm oil derivatives.
