What is double cleansing?
It basically means cleansing twice (I was not wrong about this part!) - but cleansing, like washing your face with two different cleanser: oil-based and water-based.
How do you effectively double cleanse?
First step: with an oil-based cleanser to draw out impurities that you’ve collected throughout the day, such as pollutants, sebum, SPF etc.
Second step: with a water-based cleanser to get rid of debris such as sweat and dirt. It really makes a difference!
Why double cleanse?
Cleansing both ways will remove both impurities, which gives a deeper cleanse.
Some of you who have oily skin may have heard that using oil in your skincare routine is actually good for your skin. Oil produced is called sebum, and when it builds up it leads to acne, which usually happens as a result of poor cleansing. Sebum contains Vitamin E and is healthy for your skin since it keeps your skin moisturized, but when you use a harsh cleanser or exfoliate, or let your skin dry too much it leads to the overproduction of sebum, which leads to clogged pores and dull skin.
So the key for your skin to be in a 100% healthy state 24/7 is addressing the core issue of sebum overproduction - cleansing properly and thoroughly with an oil-based first-step.
